NY/Parallel Compression

March 14, 2013 | 6:18 pm

Hi all,

I want to imitate NY/Parallel Compression on a sound. Since it uses duplicate signals (just one heavily compressed/distorted/etc) i was thinking to copy/duplicate a buffer and then tweak/process it. But than i’d have to use a second [groove~]. I dont want to use [polybuffer~].
Is this a good way to go about it? Can this be achieved in a different way?

Thanks!

No need to use two sets of objects, just put the output of groove in to your compressor, then add the dry and compressed signals together.

do you want to do it offline ? if not ,just split that signal from groove into two groups and process the output then .
by the way ,considering compression itself – the only thing you need to worry about is the filter’s phase delay if the compressor construction use it

edit: opps sorry i didnt saw Mike’s reply
