I need a way to play a rather large amount of audio (about the same as 7-8 audio cd’s) in a stand-alone max app (with the audio files in it). And the app should be downloadable for everyone, so .wav or .aiff simply takes up too much hd space.

Internet streams only, I never got the file support finished (due to
lack of motivation).
