Older comp >> high framerate?

April 22, 2006 | 4:20 pm

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any tricks for improving the framerate on video coming out of jit.qt.grab and going right back out to a jit.window. I’m doing some moderate sound sampling based on the video information coming into the camera, but nothing that intesive on the comp.
It’s installed on an old G3 with 500mhz processor and 512 gigs of ram, which isn’t ideal but it runs other full screen video projects using GL just fine. It just seems to have trouble when outputing the full motion video.

Any tips on this would be greatly appreciated. I played with UYVY mode but didn’t see any improvement.

hi jerel! how’ve you been? :)

maybe you don’t need use jitter to display the video? you could send
the analogue video right to a projector or monitor from a camera.
should even free up more resources for you analysis and synthesis.

best,
jonathan

Hey jonathan,
Things are much better now. Thanks for the tip. Thinking outside the box is a good thing.
