Omx.peaklim~ latency?

October 21, 2013 | 3:29 pm

…hi c74,whats the lookahead time/latency of the omx.peaklim~ in ‘punchy’- mode?Cant find it in the reference.
Aaand i already started this thread in the gen~ -section of the forum,
But anybody got some code for a Lookahead limiter in gen~?

Thanx

..i did it myself,the answer is 39 samples

this is ripped from something else. you’ll have to make your own envelope follower.

i find it hard to believe omx.peaklim~ is 39 samples, but hey. i agree that info should be in the documentation.

good luck

Just curious: does that also change with the sample-rate?

@stkr :
thanks a lot,i will try to get an envelope follower done…and let you know if i get anywhere

@peter mcculloch:
heres the patch i wrote for checking the latency "manually".either theres something fundamentally
wrong with my patch,or omx.peaklim~ does work with 9 samples latency in "punchy"-mode or 39 in "smooth"-mode.
(9 samples is really fast,he?)

…i didnt think it was so easy.i am not sure about how it sounds yet,but it does the job.
(at least up to an amplification of about 100x ,har har)
can i submit this as a tool?

For latency tests there is a nice patch in examples/latency-test
Choose "delay line test" and replace the [delay~] with the object/patch you want to check.

cheers,
jan
