So this has happened to me a couple of times now. The first time I made several different versions of an FFT patch, each one with a different FFT window size and the appropriate #C latency code in plugconfig so I could get it to run in real time.

However when I ran AU Scan it told me that the plugins were too similar, and I was only allowed to have one. This occurred again today when I ran it after making a little "plugsend" and "plugreceive" plugin.

What causes two plugins to be "similar"? Why does this feature exist at all? I don't need DRM on my own plugins!

All that aside, I still find pluggo amazing.

all plugs must have a *unique* id number.

everytime you create a plugconfig object a new id is generated 

but not if you just copy it from another plugin.

just a guess:
did you possibly copy the plugconfig?
all plugs must have a *unique* id number.
everytime you create a plugconfig object a new id is generated  
randomly -
but not if you just copy it from another plugin.

aha! ....and here I was thinking "well maybe if change the name of this abstraction, move this stuff other there, AU Scan will think it's different.."

One plugin "looks" like another in AU Scan.
