Opengl recording problems
I’ve composed an audiovisual piece with opengl and max and i now want to record it. Im rendering it through the jit.gl.asyncread into a jit.qt.record object but whenever i hit record the visuals and audio both have lag so much and this is on the recording as well. Any one know any ideas how to overcome this?
Also i don’t want to pay for any high def screen recording because this will be the only time ill need to use it.
Any ideas? im really struggling with this one :/ or does anyone know of a free HD screen recorder for mac?
Is there no lag when jit.qt.record is not recording? Then it seems the chosen video codec is too heavy for your system to encode in realtime. Try something lighter. Something that encodes frame by frame like MJPEG is less taxing than a temporal codec like H264/MPEG4. If your system/hard disk can handle it you can also record uncompressed and compress afterwards.
But it might also be your hard disk being too slow to handle the data stream. Then a stronger compression (smaller resulting bit rate) might help.

yer i used jpeg with lossless encoding on a jit.vcr instead and it seems to work like a dream now.
yes but what do you use to record? also, I guess you’d have to record sound separately and stitch it together afterwards.

It’s not free, but 30$ is a verz reasonable price
for syphon, download syphno for jitter and syphon recorder and just look at the help file of server and you’ll understand quickly.
you put a server in your patch and you record with the recorder and yes you have to record audio separately.
