Hi,

I’ve recently installed a graphics card (ATI FireGL T2 dual head) and the
latest driver 8.543.0.0 on a PCI bus. I’m on a HP xw6000 workstation with
win XP Pro SP3 with 3 GigHz and 3Gig RAM running Max5.0.4 and Jitter 1.6.3

I’m using two monitors (1360 X 768 for the controls and 1920 X 1200 for the
display).

I’m running a patch that uses about 80% of my CPU on a small window but when
I click to full screen the machine freezes . I have to unplug it to restart.

I suspect that the GL is not functioning well . if at all.

My question is .. How can I find out what OpenGL version is running . or,
what OpenGL version is available?

And . How can I monitor its behavior?

A previous version of the driver for the ATI FireGL T2 worked well but
occasionally gave the message that I need a OpenGL version later than 1.2 .
The latest driver 8.543.0.0 is supposed to have GL version 2.0 but I’m not
sure I’m making contact with it.

The Red Book has some information on how to query the version of OpenGL but
I couldn’t get it to work.

Thanks for any help, Chuck Henry

hi,,
i have a ati radeon 4870 with a higher 1.2 opengl version in winxp /i cant check now the exact version/ and i have the same problem. i wrote cycling74 support but they dont give me an explanation of why im getting (only sometimes) this incorrect warning.

i ended up using a @pos and @rect message with @border 0 to jit.window in all my patches.. you can use jit.display to get the coords automatically for every diferent situation (displays res configs). dont know if its the best solution, but now i dont have the problem with the conseuqent bad frame rate….

best,
o

ps: btw i found that foing fullscreen in the main monitor dont give never the warning… :-?

Hi Oscar,
Support sent me this:
—————————————————————————
I believe you can use the following utility to get some information about
your graphics performance and configuration:

http://www.ozone3d.net/gpu_caps_viewer/

You may need to have a play with the graphics card driver, maybe using a
different version is the way to go.
————————————————————-
It does give me lots of information about my OpenGL. I have since found the
correct driver for my graphics card and I’ve updated to 5.0.5 and I’m
waiting to hear from support about getting full operation of MaxMSP-Jitter
… authorization???? I do think my problem is with overheating the
graphics card though. Cheers, Chuck
