with menubar: doubleclick and you get the input-field

with umenu: go to inspector and edit the content of the umenu.

the floating-input field pops up to enter stuff. now open the max-help, still everything is fine. now click on the title-bar to get the help to the front. bang. the input-field flickers, fighting with the help to be in front...

(every other window is fine to use while this floating input window is open...)

I can't reproduce exactly what you're saying but while trying I found a crash. Steps to reproduce are as follows:

Basic System Specs: Max5.0.4, MacOSX 10.5.4, MacBook IntelCore2Duo, 2 Ghz, 2 GB RAM

Max5.0.4 crashes to the desktop when umenu's "Menu Items" input field is cancelled after clicking on the title-bar of an opened help-file for umenu.

1. Open a New Patcher and instantiate a umenu object.

2. Option-click on the umenu to open its help-file.

3. Going back to the newly instantiated umenu object within the new patcher, open the umenu's inspector.

4. Within the inspector, click the "Menu Items" "Edit" button to open the input-field.

5. While the input-field is open, click on the title-bar of the previously opened umenu help-file.

6. Click the "cancel" button on the "Menu Items" input-field.

Umenu's "Menu Items" input-field should close when the "cancel" button is hit.

Sorry, just figured I'd go ahead and give the full bug-report here so others can verify and support can log it rather than dereferencing it from this thread. If this is not good to do, someone let me know(not sure when to email support and when to post here).
