[ot] macbook pro for windows users ?

Hello,

Please, no mac/pc troll.

I know it may seems very stupid but still :

I came to hate all pc laptops after buying lots of, especially the most
expensive ones. I always wanted to throw them against my wall after less
than one year (i did sometimes). But they’re still handy sometimes
(working in my bed, travelling). It seems that macintosh laptops are
more pretty, robust, ergonomic, good battery life, handy and not so
expensive compared to competitors like Vaio. But i can’t bear OSX.
Should i consider buying a macbook pro to run XP on it and it will work
like on any other laptops ? Do people here do that ? With no troubles at
all ? Do you run Max, Nuendo, and so on without a glitch ?

thanks for your experience / suggestions

i have a MBP for almost a year now. i have two partitions but rarely do i
use the osx one.
its a good machine, but everybody knows that.

bad stuff.
1. the cdrom is region locked (but
wait…< http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?&t=347949>
)
2. [freezing with entering standby mode][keyboard stop responding when
closing lid]
3. serious problem – when the apple service is running high latency in
audio<
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=614302>
i have a script that kills the apple manager when i don’t need the function
keys.
its is good enough. see here

4. no bios (uses EFI) > no pre-boot hackery > all ghosting only
<
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=188748>be done from osx
(via winclone, which works but is limited compared to trueimage/ghost)
5. the built in webcam doesn’t go above 15fps in my tests with jitter, every
other camera (sans the firewire
problem<
http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-405685.html>s
of sp2, work ok)
6. some external hardware drivers will not work or not work well. and
mostall companies will not support bootcamp. it happened to me with
one<
http://www.pixelink.com/>.
there my be others.
7. there is talk about some nasty copy protection schemes that will
not work<
http://discussion.autodesk.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=5591634>
8. other mac users (and apple) would like you to see bootcamp as a stepping
stone for osx. so expect the cold shoulder from both when dealing with this
problems. and the finger always points…

i have no input on the newest mbp’s with the glossy screen and the display
port.
both sucks imo.
