[ot] off-topic: Circle synthesizer

April 20, 2008 | 11:05 pm

Here is an interesting demo of a new synthesis software called Circle:

Circle uses OSC and was, like (the black-holishly time-slowing) Max 5, built
with Juce.

Looks pretty nice. Nice clean utilitarian interface. I like and may buy it.

I thought you meant a different circle in the thread title.

I really like the drag-and-drop color-coded modulator interface. Looks very intuitive and very useable. I hope something like that is possible in Max 5!

I guess its possible already in Max 4, you can have all these mouse
coordinates and use scripting to move red leds around…

Though patching in Max itself is much more intuitive, as the connections
made are also visible. When I saw the video I thought, nice for synth
programmers who don’t know Max or don’t want to get into it, but it
doesn’t really deliver anything new in terms of sound creation. Its
about simplifying an user interface, not about breaking new ground…

I wish them to create enough wind, to sell their stuff though, they seem
to be smart on the marketing front…
