OT pci express to pcmcia adapter and RME Multiface

March 20, 2007 | 5:12 pm

Hi,

Wondering if anybody had tried this adapter with the RME Multiface

http://www.duel-systemsadapters.com/

I will have to change my powerbook to a macbookpro soon and was
wondering if I could save my sound card

Thanks for any information

I looked at it, and also emailed them and RME about compatibility.
Duel-systems said that they thought it should work, but they didn’t
have a card to test. They also said that if I bought one and it
didn’t work, they would refund me.
However, the guy in the US who handles RME support said that he
thought it wouldn’t work, as there are no Intel compatible drivers
from RME. I think that RME are going to be making a new card for the
Intel mac, but they won’t say when it might be available.

There’s a few people on the list who will sell you their old
Multifaces cheap if you want to start a collection :-(

The info in the previous post is out of date. There have been a few
threads about this on the RME forum (a non-propagating newsgroup, found
via their web site). IIRC, the latest news is that RME sent
Duel-systems some test product and the results are not yet in… but
initial feedback is encouraging.

And re PCIe for HDSP: I think the latest was "maybe around March/April".

Their forum is always the best place to keep track of this stuff, driver
updates, etc.
