We are now open for submissions for this year's event! DEADLINE 27th SEPTEMBER

Seeing Sound is an informal practice-led symposium exploring multimedia work which foregrounds the relationship between sound and image. It covers areas such as visual music, abstract cinema, experimental animation, audiovisual performance and installation practice.

This year's symposium will have a focus on live performance, but as in previous years, we will also be open to works which fall outside of this focus but within the broader remit of the Seeing Sound series. Submissions may take the form of papers (theoretical, historical or practice-led), fixed media works, performance or installation works.

The website for this year's event is up, with initial information on the event - a highlight is a collaboration between computer animation pioneer Larry Cuba and choreographer Yolande Yorke-Edgell. Larry will be attending the symposium and will give an hour-long presentation on his work (from his own experimental works to his seminal work on the original Star Wars movie) and his collaboration with Yorke-Edgell.

The 2013 website is now up, with initial information on the symposium. More will be added incrementally in the lead up to the event - there's some other exciting content in the works which we're not quite ready to reveal yet!
