p5glove OSX external

November 2, 2007 | 9:14 pm

I wrapped Tim Kreger’s p5 glove code in a Max external and put it here:

http://www.mikezed.com/Max-p5glove.zip

This is a UB version. I will not be making a windows version. It is fatally flawed, and will kick your puppy and steal your girl. I probably won’t have time to fix any bugs.

cheers,

mz

Contrary to my initial statements, I made some improvements to this object and moved them to here:

http://www.mikezed.com/technology/p5glove.html

Better position (I hope) and reports tilt, albeit in a format I haven’t figured out yet.

cheers,

mz

I realize that you don’t want to support this object, but in the vain hope that you might have a clue as to why it won’t work on my
system…

Loading your help patch displays "Glove Connect Failed" (using Tim Kreger’s Terminal app also couldn’t find the glove).

MacBook Pro (June 08 edition) OSX 10.4.10, Max 4.6.3

Glove still works on a Tibook OSX 10.4.10, Max 4.6.3

Thanks in advance

No clue. My external and Tim’s app rely on the same glove connection mechanism, so it would be a real surprise if only one of them worked.

Try restarting. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Tim’s app. Try restarting again.

Step one would be getting p5osc -d to work. I find that things work better if you connect the glove *first* (LED on) and then run the app, or instantiate the object *second*.

FYI, I built this and run it on a older MacBook Pro with the same OS and Max.

Hello,

is there any chance you could upload the max-external somewhere again? The above links don’t work anymore.
I’m trying to use the P5 Glove with Max/MSP via P5osc, but I get the "Bad Count"-Error when I try to receive the data through udpreceive. I’ve tried everything and I was thinking about trying the external, too.

So, if it’s not too much bother, please share it again :)

Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Constantin Basica

hi MZ

Hoping your can share your souce code based on Tims code. I have mucked around with it previously to implement multiple gloves at once. Am currently looking at the cSound p5 extension which does not work for Macs,
Also need to try and find an intel version of the Calibrator as the only one I can find is PPC.

Contact me off list at {myname} at me dot com
Thanks in advance
