Is it possible to save patch with .pat on Max5 like maxmsp4.56?

Nope. The correct extension is now .maxpat. It’s also a different file
format, so you can’t save a patch in Max 5 and use it in Max 4.

I imagined that it would be possible to iterate over all the objects and connections in a Max 5 patcher using js, and thereby to acquire the patcher structure and save it in a file or data structure so that it could be recalled in Max 4 for restoration using another js. If so, one could distribute a help patcher to mediate the export to Max 4.

Scanning through the docs now, I don’t immediately see how to extract the connections, but I guess it’s in there somewhere?
