isn’t it the file name number of characters limitation on osX ? :
only 31 characters allowed (28 + dot + pat = 32). (i already had this
problem, but don’t remember the error code). if you try to write a
file containing more than 31 characters with a message to an object,
it produces an error.

It’s not an OS X limitation.

File name limits are set by the underlying file system, not by the OS. On top of that, HFS+ supports 255-char file names.

The issue is that HFS+ provides a legacy interface to the original HFS File System calls. It is these calls that are limited to 31-char file names. That’s not a problem in itself, it just a problem that Max is still using the old calls.

Here’s hoping that Max 5 also overhauls the interface to the Mac file system.
