pattrstorage slotnames

November 20, 2006 | 12:15 pm

Hi list

Today I was having some problems with pattrstorage and msp 4.5.5. The
object would renounce to read a stored XML file where all my presets were.
I finally discovered that the problem was having used a slotname with an
"&" character (eg: drum&bass). Removing the offending character manually
from xml brought everything back to how it was before. Is this intended to
be like that?

Thank you!

greg.

I reported that one some weeks ago, and believe a fix is in the works.

The problem is that "&" is an escape character for introducing XML
entity names, and it’s not being escaped properly (into "&l;") in
names. (I assume it’s working properly in pattr data.) It’s probably
worth checking that ‘"‘ and "‘" work properly.

This was fixed in a recent update to pattrstorage. You should a)
update to the most recent version of MaxMSP and b) grab the most
recent incremental updates from the incremental downloads page.
