pattstorage – Sort by name

March 10, 2007 | 11:08 pm

I’m sure this has come up before, but I did a search and can’t find any info. (Found someone else asking the question but without any responses.)

When using pattrstorage and ubumenu, I want my list of slots sorted alphabetically by name in the ubumenu.

Is there any buil-in command or series of built-in commands to sort the xml file by Name?

I can think of plenty of workarounds, such as using coll as an intermediary/translation-table to store slot names and slot numbers, sort by slot name, and base an ubumenu on that. I’m hoping there’s a more direct method.

Thanks for any help.

There’s no built-in alphabetic sorting in psto. But you could
probably build a script to do so in your favorite text editor,
especially if that editor is TextMate.

The curse of being a programmer in my day-job — I can think of a million ways to do it outside of Max. I’d really like to keep this a Max solution. I think I’ll kludge it with a coll as an intermediary between ubumenu and pattrstorage.

Thanks.
