Hey Guys - I've been working on a patch for a while now and am experiencing some strange issues with it. The patch is designed to pan between 12 speakers but while panning across (using a sine wave at 500Hz) there are what sounds like some phase issues. ie the sine sounds as if its frequency is being altered.

Below I have attached the patch that deals with the panning (there are 12 of these little patches). With each patch controlling the output of one speaker.

The patch receives an input from a slider this is passed into the panning algorithm then out of the patch into a line~ object into a *~ object to be multiplied by the sine~ object then out to the dac.

The researcher I'm working on this with believes that a small delay (even a few samples) would cause the phase issues. So my question being could it be possible that max is processing the different patches at a slight different time thus introducing the small delay in samples?

max is not adding any delay. but are you sure you are sitting perfectly in the middle of the room? :)

Only two speakers are playing at a time, the effect is noticeable even if your stood half a meter away from the speakers. The effect is also there even if panning between two outputs over headphones.
