can't get Max to recognize my Phidget Accelerometer.

i get: Error 14001 loading external PhidgetAccelerometer.

in the forums, i read that the 14001 error sometimes goes away if you re-install max. i re-installed the phidget21 library, reinstalled max 4.5.1, but still have the same error.
