photjpeg vs uyvy

Hi there,

When using quicktimes in an openGL environment, for instance with
videoplane or imageunit objects, would you recommend Quicktimes DV-
PAL format (and uyvy) or PhotoJPeg 640×480 format for optimal speed ?

thanks,

gideon

Either one works as UYVY, which is definitely faster for texture
transfer to the GPU than ARGB. Test on your system for whether DV or
PhotoJPEG is faster for your pruposes. I’ve typically found PhotoJPEG
to decompress faster and be of higher quality (the latter of which is
unimportant if it’s DV source to begin with, however). Note that this
is of course sensitive to the compression settings, and other things
like disk and bus speed of the computer you are using, so run some
empirical tests with your setup and material.

ok clear, thank you.
