Photoresistor / photo cell + Max?

hello!

please have a short look at this 30sec video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXtD9wx7mjc

i’m familiar with arduino, but not sure about the software used to implement this idea (i planned to build my sister a rather weird x-mas present)

first i thought processing was taking care of what’s going on on the screen, but i believe to recognize a max/msp patch in the background (very bad quality and one only gets a glimpse at the desktop)

cheers for any hint!

For such a simple application, I would use Jitter and the luminosity from a webcam (built-in or not), that would be cheaper.

oh, but i’ve got everything here. :) arduino, resistor, photo cell etc

i meant to build my sister a small clean box (the hardware inside not really meant as a present, grin), with only the photo cell visible (obviously). so she can fool around with the playback

i’d need someone to point me in a direction when it comes to what max basically needs to know (or probably jitter..)

all the best!

This is actually pretty straightforward to get this into Max. Basically they are mapping photocell values to frames of a movie and scrubbing thru the movie based on the sensor value. Here is one path:

photocell >> arduino >> Mac/PC >> [serial] >> [scale] (map photocell values to frame) >> jit.qt.movie >> jit.pwindow
