sorry, I do not understand what you are trying to do. from your tags I believe you are trying to get sensors into the computer to trigger piano notes like those famous videos where people walk up and down the stairs, triggering notes?

creating the notes is quite simple with Max (just go through the Max/MSP-tutorials).

The hardware for getting the trigger sensors into the computer could be arduino (www.arduino.cc, which is cheap, but very flexible). You will need sensors, but I think for that piezos would do.
