Pitch collection

May 30, 2007 | 11:43 pm

Hiya everyone,

I’ve dabbled with creating a patch that would give me a pitch
collection/tone row plus it’s inversion and retrograde. I’ve yet to
construct the retrograde inversion section.

What I would like to be able to do is have the pitch collections turned
into a midi file to be loaded into any notation program. Is this a
possibility?

Anywho, I’ve included the text if at all anyone is interested in having
a look over the work.

Sure, the seq object can do that.

I know this isn’t what you asked, but I took the liberty of optimizing your "kickoff" sub-patch to remove the delays and some redundancy. This version has no delays, no metro (it’s uzi-based), and uses triggers to synchronize everything:

Thanks for the feedback and tweak, Chris.

I don’t know if it just me or what, opening text examples from emails
sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t – I either get a completed patch
or a window full of text. I’m a little tired of the inconsistency. Is
there something I’m missing, a step in the process for opening up text
in max?

did you try copying the text and pressing ‘paste’ in a new patcher window?

The Max patchers posted here can be converted into working patcher pretty simply if you have a fairly recent version of Max –

1. Select the Maxish text e.g. lines that look like:
#P window setfont "Sans Serif" 9.;

2. Copy

3. Go to Max

4. Select "New from Clipboard" in the file menu

-C

p.s.
To go the other way, in Max, select the part of your patch that you want to post, Copy, then go to your mail program and paste.

Yes. It only lets me paste in a text window.

If there’s no "New from Clipboard" command in the File menu, you should upgrade Max to a newer version.

New from clipboard has been introduced in 4.5.5. You can update for
free, you just need to download it from here:
