Currently running V4.6.3 of Max/MSP. I use [pitch~] to control the frequency of [cycle~]. For the past four months it's been working like a charm but now instead of having a hop size of 512 it's loading at 1024. All the other arguments work correctly except for that. Also now I'm getting a message in the max window that says "Pitch~: You can't overlap so much..." which I assume comes from the large/incorrect hop size.

I've tried changing values and deleted/redownloaded the external but the problem continues. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm tempted to reinstall Max/MSP if I can't find a way to fix it.

 Deleted all traces of Max/MSP off my hard drive and reinstalled. Still not fixed. This issue even comes up with the help file. I just checked and the same problem occurs in the V5.0.8 demo as well. In case it helps I'm running it on Mac OS 10.5.8 which has been handling it smoothly in the past.

Hop size cannot be less than your signal vector size. Check the size with the Options menu -> DSP Status...

Well that solves it. My signal vector size is at 1024. Changing it back to 512 fixed the issue and got rid of the overlap message. Looks like some of my other settings have mysteriously changed as well. I haven't really fooled around too much with the DSP settings in the past. I should search out some threads on best settings.

I just found the cause of these mysterious option changes and ironically it was you, Michael. Well, some what. I recently downloaded the CNMAT Depot and was going though some of the patches and noticed in one of the Piecemaker tutorials a message box saying ";max preempt 0;dsp takeover 0;dsp sigvs 512;dsp iovs 512". I checked the options to see the DSP Status settings I had set were changed again. A hilarious turn of events given that you helped fix the issue. Anyways, thank you for all these lovely tutorials. Just have to remember to keep an eye on my DSP settings.
