hi gary,

thank you for your reply.

i’m afraid your solution will not permit to play different mp3′s on different channels. if i have 4 mp3′s playing at the same time they’ll all go out on channel 1 and 2 since system output is stereo by default… :-(

thanks anyways,
robin

Another possibility would be to convert them first to aiff with QT or
so and then use sfplay~.

Hi there, dear Ronald !

Is there a possibility for Cycling to have some kind of qt.sound~ ?
Can someone tell me if the Quicktime API let me get the audio samples
as jit.qt.movie does with video ?

I can offer a MacDonald’s menu at the Jaures’ metro station in Paris.

cheers,

O./

If you know in advance on which channels the mp3 should be played, it
is possible with QuickTime Pro to change the channel assignment.

Hi,

perhaps using Supercollider controlling it from Max/Msp ?

All the best

I briefly looked in QTPro’ AppleScript dictinnary and couldn’t find
anything related, but I’m really not an AS guru.

Robin,

There’s an extension in Supercollider to play mp3 but if you are new
to Supercollider it could be not so easy to do what you want…

I think that there’s an MP3 player in lloopp (based on Max/Msp) but it
use a sort of external quicktime application so probably you’ll have
the same problems, don’t know enough about this.

Sorry…

only reason i’m mentioning this is because you put it in your list in the original post so…
the mspinky externals are grrreat for playing mp3′s.
no delay in loading, output can be routed anywhere like any msp~ signal, can be controlled in many different ways, etc.

the guy that runs mspinky seems like a real amicable fellow, so you might can convince him to sell you the externals without the hardware at a discount, if they don’t already offer that.

just a suggestion.
