I'am an jitter newbie and have a (simple) question: I want to play a quicktime film the other way around but in forward direction, so as I tried in my little example patch, dividing the overall length in 10 parts and play the last part first, then the part before the last part and so on. My patch seems to me long-winded and does not run smooth. How can I achieve to run the film smoothly?

Haven't deconstructed your patch entirely, but you might look into simply setting new looppoint sets for the movie on the fly. Just take the length of the movie (getduration) and use that for your calculations such as dividing it into 10 or 20 parts, etc. (Note that these are NOT frames by default, they are the much more finely divided QuickTime units. To work with frames, use the editmode 2 message first.)

These looppoints would probably best be stored in a [coll] which you can then access using just an index number, so playing back as you described, you'd just need 10, 9, 8, 7, ... to retrieve the coll's info. It'll take a bit of fiddling but learning [coll] is well worth the time, and when you have your calculations working, lots more possibilities will open up.

Be sure "loopnotify" is on so you'll know when the current loop is over and you can jump to the next one.

It's likely that the film is not running smoothly because you're going through it frame by frame rather than the start and stop commands. I'll bet this is choppier in general, and you also lose your audio with this method.
