it appears that pluggo 3.6 isn't compatible with cubase 4. the pluggo "interface" is shifted up the size of the bar that normally holds cubase's buttons. clicking in that area will activate those buttons (ie power on/off, automation r/w, etc), but the rest of the pluggo interface is unresponsive.

pluggos do respond to midi, but they're kind of useless if one can't tweak the parameters, eh?

15" powerbook g4 1.25ghz, 1.25gb ram, mac os x 10.4.8, cubase 4.0.1, pluggo 3.6

thanks for the acknowledgment. i've found a few semi show stopping bugs in cubase 4 on it's own, anyway, so for now i'll stick to sx 3 and live. hopefully by the time steinberg irons out it's bugs, there will be a shiny new pluggo out as well (considering the typical rate of steinberg updates, i feel pretty confident ;) ).

released the 4.0 product - that is faster than the

they did release the 4.0.1 update quickly. however, maybe i've started to become a bit jaded with my experiences starting with sx1. i'm just not confident at this point that 4.0.2 will be as prompt.

the main feature i've been getting really excited about is mediabay. right now it is unusable for me as cubase crashes while scanning my drives.

i'm really not trying to sound negative: i'm just being realistic. for the time being i think i'll just toy with 4 and do my real work in sx3 until one or two more updates come out…

Did you all ever get a resolution to the Cubase 4 and Pluggo 3.6 question?

yep. it's a known issue and they're working on it. no time frame yet though.

that said, if you use the latest version of the plogue bidule vst or vsti, you can host pluggos in cubase 4 and they work nicely. not quite as elegant as native hosting (you have to go through some tricks to get automation to work properly), but it works for now.

doesn't seem to change anything with cubase 4 (at least on ppc). i believe i read something about the cubase 4 problem not being fixed until 3.6.2 at the earliest anyway.

in the mean time, if you have a registered copy of plogue bidule, pluggo's work fine in cubase 4 bidule as a wrapper.

We still don't officially support Cubase 4. There is no sign yet of the VST 3 spec, and we have no firm plans for a definitive upgrade.

However - Windows users should be able to get some functionality from the 3.6.1 release, as we had reports it is working ok. It's completely hosed on Mac though.

The Bidule trick is a good one. I hear you can fake host sync in MaxMSP that way too.

I was just about to purchase my license for Hipno when I discovered the Cubase 4 issue.

I'm in need for a good granular thing and Hipno is the best option so far for MacIntels, along with Audio Ease Riverrun, which is part of a way less versatile and more expensive bundle.

I'm impressed with the versatility and the VFM of Hipno (I tested the demo with AuLab) and would be happy to wait a bit for the update to come.
