I was hoping to crack this one on my own, but I've been struggling with it for a month or so, and I'm still having problems, mainly with zipper noise. I have searched the archive and the documentation thouroughly, to no avail. Here's what I'm doing:

I've got a 64 voice poly running a wave~ object each voice of which is playing back a smaller slice of a large buffer. I am banging thispoly~ with my envelope trigger to output the index, and using it as a multiple for my loop points. I have a "change" object after the thispoly~, so that it only does this the first time it is triggered. I am using line~ as an envelope, because I found adsr~ to be triggering inconsistently- I am feeding line~ with a list for a simple "AR" enveloping, and it seems to be toggling the busy and mute states perfectly- my cpu stays around 30% with no large fluctuations. I am triggering each voice individually with a target message, with the envelope list after it. All the receive objects on the right side of the patch are just loop lenghts derived from the tempo, and a master Sync~ signal to drive the rate~ object...

The problem is that it zippers like crazy- not like a "clicking loop point" sort of sound, but a more guttural, flatulent sort of thing. I have tried every configuration imaginable, but it still has this annoying artifacting. Occasionally this will clear up, and it will sound perfect.

Before I post the patch, here is a list of things I've already tried:

using entirely scheduler rate objects instead of audio rate ones where possible.

using a loadbang to trigger the thispoly~ instead of the trigger in.

using the output of line~ to toggle the busy state, instead of the *~ output.

switching around the order in which the mute off and line~ list are recieved.

using trapezoid~ on the output, driven by rate.

not using sah~ to sample the pitch input.

joining the pitch input with the line~ list then unpacking it inside poly~.

trying it with different dsp settings, on three different computers.

OK- here is the patch...I'm just going to post the voice, because the main patch would be huge- basically, I am just triggering it with a few different step sequencers to trigger the voice instance, the attack, the decay, and the pitch....

Any help with this would be great, please ask if I haven't explained something well enough, I will clarify!
