Tenure-track appointment in Composition
Department of Music
Dartmouth College

Dartmouth College seeks a composer with a high level of expertise in electro-acoustic
and computer music to teach in the undergraduate curriculum in Music and in the graduate
program in Electro-Acoustic Music.

Applicants should have an established reputation and significant record of achievement
in both composition and research, and be able to teach a variety of courses in
a diverse liberal arts music department as well as specialized advanced courses
in computer music. Areas of specialization might include, but are not limited to,
20th century music, American music, performance, digital signal processing,
computer-aided composition, hardware and software design, and contemporary music theory.

Appointment will be made at the junior or senior level, depending on qualifications. Ph.D.
or equivalent experience required. Review of applications will begin October 9, 2006,
and will continue until the position is filled.

Technical Director
Electro-Acoustic Music Studios
Department of Music
Dartmouth College

Dartmouth College seeks a junior-level composer/researcher with an outstanding level
of expertise in electro-acoustic and computer music to be the Technical Director for
the Bregman Electro-Acoustic Music Studios and work in the graduate program in
Electro-Acoustic Music.

Applicants must have demonstrated a significant and innovative research and artistic
profile, and have advanced skills in areas of computer music (including, but not
limited to: computer music languages, sensors, sound sculpture, digital art, software
and/or hardware design, digital signal processing, compositional algorithms).

Job duties include teaching one undergraduate course in electro-acoustic music
(meeting approximately four hours a week), working closely with graduate students
and faculty on research and music, supervising the studios, and participating in
the intellectual and artistic life of the Music Department.

Approximate hours for the job itself are 20-25 hours a week, with commensurate salary.
We expect the successful applicant to maintain an active research and artistic profile.
