						<p>Confirmed: try something like #11 as an argument &#8211; It won&#8217;t work as expected. FWIW I can&#8217;t find any point in the (Max6) documentation where this maximum (#9) is explicitly stated, but one way or another have been aware of this restriction for some time. This may be why in more recent Max versions it can be circumvented by use of either [patcherargs] or #0</p>

						<p>There are one or two <em>en passant</em> mentions in the SDK documentation indicating that arguments are limited to &#8220;a dollar sign followed by a number 1-9.&#8221; Note that the pound sign in pound-sign arguments is, internally to Max, the same thing as a dollar sign.</p>
<p>I also recall reading somewhere in documentation (possibly an older version of Max, such as v2.2) that arguments could be &#8220;a pound sign followed by a digit.&#8221; Not a number, a digit. That rules out anything like #11, since the number eleven consists of TWO digits.</p>

						<p>Having 11 arguments for an object is something that should IMHO be considered a &#8220;code smell&#8221;, since it&#8217;s unlikely that you would have that many arguments and that their order matters.  (yes, there are objects that do accept more arguments, e.g. sel 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10, but that also is a sign usually that something is dubious&#8230;)</p>
<p>If you have a lot of parameters, I&#8217;d recommend using annotations.  They&#8217;re a lot more flexible. Check out the patcherargs object for more help.</p>
