I've had this ongoing question that I can't seem to find an answer to. In the documentation it says that you can set jit.qt.grab preview=1 to watch as you record from a Firewire video source. I've found that this really doesn't work, at least for what I've wanted it to- that is simply recording video onto a hard drive @ 640x480 DV quality. The preview is completely choppy and unusable for my needs. It sort of surprises me given that you can do this in iMovie, in other words somehow the computer can handle it. I am sending the out of jit.qt.grab to the GPU to a vplane, maybe this has something to do with it

Does anyone have any suggestions or at least tell me point blank that this will not work. thanks for any help.
