It’s explained in the “Common Max Arcana” stickie thread.

Don’t worry, the question comes up often, and unfortunately the explanitory stickie was titled in a rather cryptic way.

Thanks for the very fast answer.
But Lazy ? not really i do search in documentation, FAQS and on the forum, but if you don’t know the exact term you must search (here “clipboard” or “compressed format”), you find hundreds of inadequate answers. And the “Common Max Arcana” was actually in the hundreds post i found, but unfortunately i don’t look at in (yes “titled in a rather cryptic way” ).
maybe a single Forum rules with basic tips could avoid redundant posts :)
Thanks anyway for the fast answer

Well, in all fairness; if you check the startpage of the official Max documentation you’ll come across a link on the bottom named “Sharing patches with others”.

This explains all options there are, including this one.

So IMO the information is a lot easier to find than people describe here ;-)

(note: you can also reach this info from within Max itself by using the ‘Max help’ option in the help menu).
