programmed voltage output to USB

March 26, 2006 | 10:52 pm

Hello!

I need to find some way how to send directions to USB port to change
it’s voltage from let’s say 0 to 5V. Is that even possible with Max?
And is there any object to work with it? I found only "aka.serviceusb"
{
http://www.maxobjects.com/?
v=objects&id_objet=1939&requested=usb&operateur=AND&id_plate forme=0 }
and I’m not sure,, if this is exactly what I look for.

Thanks a lot for any help!

If you’re not affraid with coding and you’re on Windows, you can do this
in C of course, but also easily in a Python external using pywin32 and
WMI module, or in Java using JNI. Microsoft gave solutions to access a
bunch of things through WMI (mostly hardware & system, disks, usb too).
Works with Java too.

Ideas here :

I know it won’t help much :-)

Is it then possible to connect my usb cable (thru a diy connection) with a modularsynth-CV-in and control the vco or
any other module with max/msp?
(In my case with a mac)

very interested by this old post :)

is there a way to modulate voltage on a usb port on windows with max ?

Strange question. You could use a small USB-based microcontroller (like Teensy) and control the PWM out with Max, but why do you want to modulate the USB voltage? Also, is it the voltage of the power output, or one of the pins?
