is there a way to force max networking objects (specifically jit.uldl 

and mxj.jitwebimage) to use the OSX system network settings?

this would be extremely useful for a performance occuring in a public 

gallery space, where (as very often the case in institutional places) 

comlicated proxy settings (ftp proxy + web proxy + proxy password + 

automatic proxy configuration file...) are making things very 

concretely, i'm using the jit.uldl object to upload images, and the 

mxj jitwebimage java object to download images. the error messages i 

get from both when using them on the proxied-network make me believe 

that max isn't using the system network config... is there a way to 

specs: g4 PPC, osx 10.4.9, max 4.6.3, jitter 1.6.3

btw i observed a very strange phenomenon: the upload (via jit.uldl) 

was working on another machine (macbook pro, osx.10.4.9, newest 

max+jit), under max runtime, using the same patch with the same system 

settings on the same network... that machine on the other hand had a 

problem with the java install - on startup, the max message window 

showed an erroneus filepath, such as "Macintosh HD #2" so mxj 

as soon as i fixed the filepath problem (by renaming the startup 

disk..) the java worked ok, but the upload with jit.uldl stopped 

working! (endless "ul_status 31" message). somehow it looks like max, 

with this bad java install, was using the system network settings, and 

wasn't anymore when java was working! i tried to replicate this 

phenomenon by trashing the Cycling74/java folder, but still the upload 

if anyone has a clue or solution, i would be very grateful.
