I am using the jit.str.regexp object to read an unknown file and I am looking to find an unknown word between two known punctuation points.

For example – “I like cats.”

I want to search for the word that comes after “I like __.” and the closing .”

At the moment, I have this (which I can’t get working) Any pointers or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

jit.str.regexp @re “I like([^< ]*).”

Click on the tools link under my name to find a regular expression tutorial written in max that covers most of the basics.

I’m still having one problem though. I’m now using the jit.str.regexp object to get a number out and then send this new value to a message box. Like below:

The problem I’m having is that I don’t want the number to be in quotation marks. Is there a way to get round this? For some reason, jit.str.regexp doesn’t like me typing quotation marks!
