hi, list
i searched the forum and couldn’t find anything so i kindly ask you to share your experiences.

this is only a question to WinXP users out there:

since upgrading to quicktime version 7.1 or higher i noticed a highly increased load time of movie files when using jit.qt.movie. up until version 7.0.4 the loading time was ok, and then it started to take longer and longer with every new version of QT. also editing in jit.qt.movie (cutting and rearranging frames or sections to a new movie) from movies files is heavily affected. file sizes or codecs don’t make any difference, even the bblading.mov file from the media folder takes about 5 seconds to load and doing so freezes the whole system.

can anybody confirm this ?

now the most funny thing: i tested this phenomenon on some other computers (all windows XP, different hardware though) and some slowed down, some didn’t. didn’t seem to have anything to do with “better hardware” though, i.e. an older notebook worked fine with QT 7.7.

any help or hints are appreciated

ciao
