Hello,

I was just wondering: what Graphiccard would be the better choice for Jitter&OpenGL:
Radeon HD 5870 or 6870 (first one seems to be the better card, second one has more outputs).
How about the 6970? Possible to get it running easily on a MacPro? (Or better said: on a Hackintosh Mac).

Thanx for a hint.

I can only comment on the the 6870. It runs fine in my 10.7.4 HackPro. It’s recognized by recent Chimera versions’ GraphicsEnabler so no messing around with framebuffers etc. QE/CL are working and I’ve tested 3 displays connected to it successfully. I have no reason to think the 2nd mDP port wouldn’t work as well, Which makes for a total of 4 outputs (you can’t have HDMI and DVI-2 at the same time, they share one output channel). I have this model, but I advise not to take this particular one ’cause its fan is g*dd*mn loud:

Of course the 6870 is pretty dated by now. Mountain Lion has native support for newer Nvidia cards that easily blow it out of the water. Big advantage of ATI still seems to be more simultaneous display outputs. I don’t know about ATI 69xx support. I always search for these things at http://www.tonymacx86.com/home.php
