[radiaL] Irritating Bugs
OK - here's the first of my beta bug reports. I'm putting Radial
through it's paces again in a marathon live jam for the next couple
of days, so will post as stuff comes up.
Radial has a habit of randomly loading up a new file with all the
channel filters closed down, and with no way to double-click or drag
them open. The strange thing is they look like they should be open,
until you realise that the filters are all in light blue to indicate
that the filters are completely closed off. The only way to cure is
to reboot radial, sometimes 5 or 6 times, until the filters load up
in their usual open position.
Strange but true - you can drag an individual loop channel around the
screen causing some weird screen redraws in the process by holding
down Apple + Shift.
Talking of screen redraws - Radial sometimes, draws the background as
white instead of black, or one of the loop channels in expanded mode
will show as a block of white on first opening a new radial file.
The configuration window opens underneath the top menu bar in the top
left hand corner and can only be closed by Apple + W, as the button/
menu bar is not visible, and therefore the window cannot be dragged
to a new position.
Midi controllers don't work until the channel selection is scrolled
first away from 1 to 16 and then back to 1 again.

I would be willing to bet based on some of this that you've forgotten to
mention about some
bits of outboard equipment you're using radiaL *with* - audio
interfaces, external controllers,
MIDI interfaces [if any] that you haven't said anything about. One
screamingly obvious case
of this would be the light blue filters - that's often a consequence of
starting the program with
a different audio input/output configuration than you had the last time
you ran it or saved
state.
While I appreciate you including the sytem/version stuff, the materials
listed above would also
be helpful to know.
The only bit of any of this I've ever seen is the MIDI controller
channel selection [scroll first]
but, which I know Andrew knows about.
Sorry about that wasn't aware that it was relevant.
Behringer BCR2000 and Pro Tools M8ox and occasionally an MBox 2 mini. You're right that sometimes I launch the programme without any controllers attached, so how do.I get around this? Do I need to save different starting configurations and launch radial from those?
BTW I've been using radial on and off since the very original beta version and have only ever seen this behaviour on the UB version.
Best,
Joe

Hey wow - that's pretty freaky.
As far as the audio related drawing thing goes, I'll try and get some better initialisation of audio drivers going.
