random algorithm/kumaraswamy distribution

where can i get information about the random algorithm of max msp, also of the Kumaraswamy distribution from litter pro.
is there a good reference book outside, any links?
every help will be much appreciated.

There are, btw, bibliographic references in swamy.help, as there are in almost all the Litter Power .help files. That’s one of the things the See Also popup is for (this is also useful for Starter Pack folk).

I guess random is simply using the standard c random function. Look into
the GNU c sources to find out more about it, but what can I tell you,
the real random expert is Peter…

Actually, several years ago DDZ outed Numerical Recipes as the source for the bundled [random].

Which was one of the reasons I built lp.titi & Co.-!

The algorithm in NR has some notorious shortcomings. It’s probably OK for generating a stream of MIDI note numbers, but it has some gotchas that can burn you if you try to do anything more fancy.
