re: call for works

May 20, 2006 | 9:16 pm

To clarify my earlier call for works…

I’m starting a multimedia label called kitty scratch of death. I’m
extremely interested in mixing music and video in more experimental
ways than the "music video" affords. Especially with people using
"processing" and "jitter", there is some extremely interesting visual
stuff going on in digital art these days. I want to spotlight that,
as well as underground experimental music.

Right now music artists are submitting tracks for the first
compilation album (the theme is noise ie merzbow, kevin drumm, or even
noise rock bands like lightening bolt or melt banana). In the
meantime, I’m trying to find video artists who would like to be
involved in the first project. If you are, send me a sample of your
work and we’ll talk.

After I get all the music, I’m going to send a track to each of the
video artists (the decision of which track will be sent to who is
going to be a completely randomized process…thus the patch I
mentioned earlier). Each artist will then make a video for the track
[s]he has received, and send it back to me so I can release the works
on the label.

If you ARE an audio artist, send me a noise track at my e-mail
address. The deadline is July 1rst. If you are a video artist, and
are interested in taking part in the project, please send me an e-mail
with a link to a sample of your work.

If you are not put on this first compilation album, it’s no big deal.
I plan on doing several more projects like this in the future. Also,
if anyone has any project ideas, send them to me.

Let me know if you need further clarification.

While talking to a friend today, I mentioned a problem with a video I have
to finish, for a song that is not bad but it’s just not my cup of tea(who
likes songs nowadays anyway). he advised me to call a guy who made a song
and tell him: hello, would you make music for my video?

We’re both making music, and maybe it’s not fair to give preference to
sound-based music over ‘visual’ music?

reverse your pairing patch: take videos first, and give them to musicians to
finish the job.
