Are there any plugins or settings to change some the patches look an feel. I am mostly concerned with the outlines of objects 5 pixels is a little thick. I feel 5 pixels outlines are alittle chunky. I do alot of web design and I don’t remember ever using a 5 pixel border around anything. So I am not sure if there is a 3rd party plugin or app to change it please let me know. Thanks so much.

You can begin making regular use of the live.* objects at any time. They are teensy and have those nicely testosterated pointy corners that all the manly boys crave.

all im saying is that 4.6.3 was right in vein with a tufte outlook on design for real world easy usage. I think there is a reason Obama hired him to design quantitative graphics for citizens to understand the nations spending.

take a read, This is why 1px lines and square corners > max 5 un-scannable interface
will always win.

http://www.amazon.com/Visual-Display-Quantitative-Information-2nd/dp/0961392142

if there is a way to go back I’m interested, but;
as far as workflow goes: max 5 > 4.6.3
as far as ease of looking at it for hours a day: 4.6.3 > 5

I often miss the cold austere ‘otherworldliness’ of Max 4.n.n. It presented MaxMSP in its natural state: not quite CSound, not quite Reaktor. And remember: the GUI is NOT the interface. It’s all a lie, don’t fall for prettiness….you have been warned.

If you’re a graphic designer you could modify all the .svg files to your liking (in Illustrator or something). Take a look in the Cycling ’74 folder.

i have been following this thread, and am interested in it some what.
i think it would be cool if you could have the max 4 style patching for the non-presentation, and with presentation view, has the more cooler, curvy objects. or even with the cold jags of max 4 objects…

Yeah those .svg files seem to relate more to icons used with in the max but not objects themselves.

I am with bmoren on this Edward Tufte would flip out on how much non-information that is being displayed (5 pixel lines, Gradients, ect)
Creates eye fatigue but anyway that is neither here or there.

If f.e. was being serious about a plugin I would be really excited to know how or where to get it.
