Is it possible to record both the speaker sound (DSP) and video into the same video file - or do I have to record them seperatly and merge them in a video edit program?

That is I want the sound from a synthesizer in Max to be recorded in the video file (not the computer mic sound)

I'm sorry - it's not possible to combine the audio associated with a movie and audio from some external source using the Vizzie modules as they are (you'll notice that there is no audio input to the RECORDR module).

You could modify your copy of the current modules to do this, but it would be a bit of an undertaking. The current Vizzie module is built around the jit.qt.record module, and you'd need to replace it with a jit.vcr object and add the necessary audio inputs to allow the recording.

The other thing you'd need to do is more ambitious - extracting the audio from a loaded QuickTime movie uses an object called spigot~ that reads the movie's audio into a standard MSP buffer and then outputs it. That means you'd also need to either modify the PLAYR object to handles this, or create another Vizzie module that produced the audio from a loaded movie (LISTENR?).

I don't know much about your facility with Max, so it's hard to say how difficult you'd find doing this. You're certainly free to copy and modify the Vizzie modules to suit your own needs, in any case.
