So, if you delete -> undo a mxj object, you reload the class file, so changes are noted. BUT if you have a subclass used by the MaxObject, it doesn't seem to reload. I tried making it a bogus MaxObject, just so I could put one somewhere to delete -> undo, but that doesn't seem to affect it as a subclass. Any tips?

At one stage there was a "zap" (or, originally, "_zap") message that MXJ interpreted as an instruction to replace the class loader and hence reload all classes. I don't know if that still works - the documentation for "zap" in Max 5 gives a slightly different description.

In this situation, I go to the MaxObject superclass java file, add/delete a space so the file has changed, recompile, then delete/undo the object in the Max patch. Not ideal, but it works.

Actually, the "zap" command works great for what I need.

even using zap i seem to regularly get into the situation where mxj refuses to load a new version of a class even if i delete and reinstantiate the object. reloading max is the only thing that works in that situation for me.

while i'm griping about mxj related woe i'd like to mention the JODE cannot decompile blah blah blah when i try and viewsource on an mxj, it only happens randomly but it affects the whole session in max.

I think it has something to do with loading multiple objects which all refer to the same static members,objects,fields etc.

For example you cant run zap on [MXJ receive] because if your [MXJ send] is still instantiated, one would reference a non existing master list of Mobjects, and the other would reference the new master list of Mobjects.
