Rewire~ Midi not working…

I have been trying to get MIDI messages working with rewire~
and Ableton Live. I updated to Max 4.6 (WinXP) and it still
does not work. Has anyone been able to send MIDI messages to
slave rewire devices?

Can anyone verify this?

It works, but you may need to do some surgery on it if you have been changing your Live versions around a bit.

First, make sure you have ReWire 1.7 installed from the Propellorheads site.

In order to get it going, I had to delete

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPropellerhead SoftwareReWireAbleton Live Engine

From the registry and then rerun the ReWire registration process.

What does the ReWire registration process?

MaxMSP does it when you select ad_rewire

Also, after you delete the Ableton rewire registry key, Live will rescan rewire devices when it next starts up.

I deleted the registry entry, but it looks like Max
(or someone else) created it again with the same path.
Should I have the registry entry point to the dll the
Rewire installer created?

The Ableton Live Engine path should point to the location of the ALE associated with the version of Live you wish to use, in my case

C:Program FilesAbletonLive 6.0.1ProgramAbleton Live Engine.dll

Just starting the version of Live you wish to use is sufficient. Then it should work with MaxMSP.

That is currently what I have. So what do I do
with this Rewire dll you asked me to install?

As it stands, I still can not send MIDI to a
rewire slave. I am using Live 5.02, Max 4.6, WinXP.
Is there anything else I can try?
