I’m a music teacher, and I have been asked to teach children with learning difficulties music.
I figured the best way is to use rhythm games with some form of visual media and something easily relatable to.
A friend suggested using max Msp in conjunction with rock band and use my own musical loops/
However having no real solid knowledge of max I could really use some help.
I want to be able to create a system that enables me to:
Drag drop samples into the patch to control each instrument. Eg: using the drums, assign kick snare and hat samples so when triggered they play.
Enable recording of what is being produced.
And allow drums base guitar and maybe vocals to be played simultaneously.
I know it’s a tall order but any help would be credited and fully documented.
there are several related threads (with helpful links) which discuss the use of either MIDI, OSC or the [hi] object to get game controller data into Max. I don’t use game controllers myself so can’t directly help with this element, but the rest of the stuff you mention would be trivial in max and I can offer any help you need there. The threads are here:

Are you familiar with the EAMIR library? It’s quite a substantial package, but V.J. Manzo has done extensive work in the realm of accessible Max environments.
