room simulator

April 18, 2007 | 1:38 pm

Does anyone know of a room simulator/reverb object or patch where I can specify the dimensions of a room? For example I could set up the room’s walls to be 50, 150, -75, -100 feet from the center. Ideally something like PLACE in RTcmix would be great, but variables for PLACE are not p-field enabled, so they don’t meet my needs. I have used several reverb objects like gigaverb~ and freeverb~ but these don’t have specific enough inputs.

Thanks,
Andrew

You could use the vst~ object to access the RaySpace plugin. http://www.quikquak.com/software.html

You might take a look at the RTcmix MOVE instrument, which is
essentially PLACE with a path specifcation for the source. As you
noticed, though, both PLACE and MOVE are really ancient instruments
(Doug Scott wrote them back in 1990) and haven’t been updated much
at all since. Plus MOVE won’t dynamically change the room
dimensions, only the source path through the room.
