runtime 4.63 and 5.05 on same machine impossible?

hello again,

i got a new mac, which i only wanted to outfit with runtime versions of max. assuming i could hold two different versions on the same machine i installed max 5.05 runtime first. now i can’t install runtime 4.63, which is more important to me, than 5. even after i removed any files i found from the runtime 5 install i still can’t install runtime 4.63.

i am on 10.5.5, macbook black. i am aware, that cycling74 officially doesn’t support max 4.63 on leopard, nevertheless it is also clear, that many people do use it that way.

any help to install runtime 4.63 is very appreciated.

Can you explain in detail exactly what happens when you go to install? Drop a note to support at cycling74 dot com and we will get you straightened out.

Hello Ben, i did so 4 days ago, but didn’t get an answer yet.

the problem remains the same: as soon as i had installed a 5.05 runtime version on a newly bought computer i could not install the runtime for 4.63, even when i deleted any 5.05 runtime parts from my hard disk afterwards. i guess there’s still files on it, which i don’t knwo about, r some flag set somewhere, which makes my system think that 5.05 runtime is still present.

i am on leopard 10.5.5

thank you in advance for any help

Here’s the response which was emailed to you on Monday this week.
Spam filters?

Perhaps you might try deleting the receipts for Cycling products in

/Library/Receipts

The other thing to try if this doesn’t work would just be to copy the Max runtime folder over from another computer. The runtime folder is self contained and the RT installer does not install any other components to other locations.

hello ben,
thank you for letting us two “spam” this forum with this support request, i checked my (g)mail address for spam, but there was no message from c74.
probably got lost, i assume.

furthermore:

i don’t have any receipts for cycling products, neither labelled max nor labelled cycling74, both neither in library/receipts, nor in user/library/receipts.

i also didn’t install any other than just the 5.05 runtime on this brand-new computer, therefore there shouldn’t be any receipts, when i follow, what you said here

>The runtime folder is self contained and the RT installer does
>not install any other components to other locations.

To me i seems that it does?

? what now ?

Thank you very much for any more indication!

i’ve got a little runtime license question.
i got a MBP an a Windows laptop. both got Max5 on it. i know the license doesn’t let you to run Max on both computers at the same time but does the license let you to run Max5 on one computer and runtime on the other one a the same time? even though that runtime is registered with the same license?

You can run as many copies of the runtime(s) anywhere and everywhere
you like.

But you can’t run a Max 4.63 runtime, when you already installed the Max 5.05 runtime.
Even after removing all visible parts of the 5.05 runtime install os x 10.5.5 wouldn’t permit installing a max 4.63 runtime instead.

That issue remains unsolved here.

BEWARE!
