"Save as" from within patch

March 20, 2011 | 11:55 am

Hi everyone,

Any way to save a patch with a new name from within the patch itself (meaning I don’t want to use the mouse to go up to File->Save As)? It can be done with Java simulating key events, for example, but I’m hoping there’s a more elegant way.

Since the contents of the patch are being scripted at startup, I suppose I could grab that data and format the JSON file myself…

Any ideas? Maybe I’m missing something very simple.

best,
Zachary

how about the fscopy object of Jasch? I don’t think it has a "save as" but I know you can copy, replace, rename files… maybe a start?

Hi MIB,

Thanks, but that doesn’t exactly do what I need. I can use that or shell cp command, etc. to copy the file, but if I’ve scripted new objects since the last save, those new objects won’t be copied with the file.

The more I think about this, the more I think I’ll need to track the scripted objects and use javascript or other language to format into a JSON file.

Wonder if pattr can help…

best,
Zachary
