I have posted this once already and would have bumped the thread if i would have found it again..

But as far as i remember it went like this:

Me: "Everytime i forget to switch on my motu which is a midi interface also, and start max, its abbreviation in the mid setup gets lost.

If i go out in the world with my laptop and switch on max, all my abbreviations get lost(i am using about 7 midi devices, for in 7 and out 7..) I just remember those abbreviations and it's ok. But why? I mean it would be really comfortable if those would be saved.. I don't think i am asking for a huge feature and i don't see a reason why this would be inconvenient for anyone."

Other guy(s): "No, you could use explicit naming eg. [midiin motu828] or the like. Nobody needs this"(written in a friendly manner originally)

me:"but abbreviations have big advantages over explict naming, and i have really big patcher using abbreviations already.."

Really? Wouldn't that be great? Please, can anybody explain?
