saving max 5 patcher as text – text formatting?

every time I save a Max 5 patcher as text I get a very very long text file, starting something like this:

{
"patcher" : {
"fileversion" : 1,

etc.

once, I got a patcher from Steven Miller that looked something like this instead:

———-begin_max5_patcher———-
13609.3oc68s1iiiikketFf4+fPr0hJhrCGo3SQM6hEyzOpt+vL0Bz4Bzenq
EMTDghr7j9ErcjUU8fs+suR5RYKaSIQIKJRayBnxvRgBYxyk7xKIO7b+u

etc.

much more compact, can anyone tell me how it’s done?

thanks!

This post seems to contain a broken pasted patch. This can happen if you don’t copy the entire "———-begin_max5_patcher———-" or "———–end_max5_patcher———–" for each and every patch you paste; perhaps you missed a preceding or trailing "-" when you copied the patch? Please notify the Cycling 74 web team if you think it is a bug.

Hi Gadi,

There’s nothing wrong with the text file you save, that’s how it is. People just use the copy compressed format to send patches over email.
If you want it compressed just select whatever you want to send and then choose ‘copy compressed’ from the Edit menu, then
paste it into an email. That’s why it looks scrambled and unreadable.

Select everything you want to include, then select Copy Compressed
from the edit menu.
